Company coverage: depth, breadth and score

How Opener calculates how well the team knows each company, and how to read the quadrant and the ranking by score.

What it is for

Company coverage shows how deeply and how broadly the team knows each company. It helps you find companies where you have one strong person and a second one is missing, or companies where nothing is happening yet.

How to

  1. Open Company coverage in the Companies group.
  2. The quadrant has Depth on the X axis and Breadth on the Y axis, both from 0 to 100. A point is a group of companies with the same values: the more companies, the bigger the point.
  3. Clicking a point narrows the Ranked by score list to those companies. A second click or Clear filter cancels the selection.
  4. Clicking a company opens its detail with the people and who is handling them.

Coverage of target companies from a list

  1. At the top, choose a company list in the Company list field. The quadrant and the ranking then show only the companies of the list. All companies clears the choice.
  2. Directly from the detail of a company list: Use and Open in Company coverage.

The score does not change with a list, it is calculated the same way as without it. You can send the link of the page with the list to colleagues; a team list opens for everyone, a personal list only for its author.

Good to know

How it is calculated

For each person from the company, the highest phase the team has with them is taken (1 = Looked up up to 5 = Working together).

  • Depth = the highest phase in the company. Working together is 100, Connected is 60.
  • Breadth = the average of the two best people in the company. One person in Working together and nobody else gives 50, two people in Working together give 100.
  • Score (Coverage) = the square root of depth multiplied by breadth, rounded. One person in Working together gives a score of 71, two give 100.

A full 100 therefore means that the team is working together with two people from the company.

Other rules

  • Only open relationships count. Closed ones do not.
  • The numbers are the same for all members.
  • A person counts for every company they are assigned to in Opener.
  • A company follow-up does not count towards coverage. Coverage is based only on steps in relationships with people.
  • The page shows at most 500 companies, with a list at most 2,000 companies of the list.
  • You can put target companies into a list: in Companies, select the rows and choose Add to list. A company list shows the coverage of each company, and from the list detail you can also start an action plan from the people at those companies.
  • You also find the score in the Coverage column of the Companies list and in the company detail in the Coverage section. For the company's people, it shows who is Working.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a company have zero even though we have people there?

The people are not assigned to the company in Opener, or nobody has an open relationship with them with a recorded step. Check the company in the contact's details.

Can I set what counts as full coverage?

No. Full coverage is always the Working together phase.
