Search ⌘K
How to quickly find a person, company, note, action, team message or document, and what search by meaning is.
What it is for
Search finds people, companies and the content of records across the whole space as you type. You can open it from anywhere in the app.
How to
- Click Search at the top of the left menu, or press ⌘K (Ctrl K on Windows).
- Type. Results appear from two characters, in the groups People, Companies, Notes and documents and Team messages.
- Select a row with the arrow keys and press Enter. A person or company opens in the detail view, a document opens in a preview in a new tab, and a note or action opens in the detail of the contact it belongs to.
- Show all results opens the Search page with more results. The detail of the selected result opens in a panel alongside.
Esc closes the window.
Good to know
- People are searched by name, position and company, companies by name. Every word of the query must match.
- Content includes notes, action notes, team messages and the text of documents. Words of three or more characters are also matched by their beginning, so "contr" finds "contracts".
- Accents and letter case do not matter.
- A query can have at most 200 characters.
- The window shows at most 8 people, 5 companies and the 3 best matches in content. The Search page shows more.
- Search by meaning: when AI is turned on in the space and your AI level is at least Search only, search also finds content with a similar meaning, not only the same words. On the Search page you then see how similar a result is (very similar content, similar content, loosely similar content). Search does not use credits.
- You find only what you are allowed to see in the space.
- The Ask AI row below the results (or ⌘J) moves the text you typed into a question for AI. So does the Ask AI button in help when you ask it about your contacts.
Frequently asked questions
Why does search not find a word in a different form?
Matching by the beginning of a word covers most forms. When a form starts differently, try a shorter beginning of the word.
Can I search in documents?
Yes, in the text of uploaded documents. A scan without text cannot be found, and the app tells you so for such a document.
Where is the Search page in the left menu?
It is not there. Open it from the search window with Show all results.
