Relationship cadence
How to set how often to get in touch with a person, and where to see relationships that are overdue.
What it is for
The cadence says how often the owner of a relationship should get in touch with the person. Opener then keeps track of when it is time, so you do not lose touch with important relationships.
How to
- In the contact detail, in the Relationship section, on the Cadence row, click Set cadence.
- Choose one of the options: Every 2 weeks, Every month, Every 2 months, Every quarter, Every 6 months or Once a year. It is saved immediately.
For several relationships at once: in People & relationships or My action plan, select the rows and choose Set cadence.
You remove the cadence with the No cadence option.
Good to know
- Next contact date = last contact plus the cadence. Without any contact it is counted from the day it was set.
- A contact is any recorded action except Looked up: invitation, connection, message, meeting, call, email (including one recorded through the copy address), comment. Neither a note nor a follow-up renews the cadence.
- Statuses: Due soon (due within 7 days), Overdue and Long overdue (overdue by at least one full cadence).
- The cadence is set by the owner of the relationship, and by an admin for all relationships. Neither the processor nor other members can set it.
- There is one cadence per relationship, and the reminders go to the owner.
Where you see the cadence
- Follow-ups, section By cadence: your relationships with the status Due soon, Overdue or Long overdue. A contact on which you have a follow-up with a due date is not shown here. This is how you postpone the cadence with a follow-up.
- People & relationships: the Next contact column and the Cadence filter.
- Team, part Relationship care: how many relationships with a cadence each owner has on schedule.
- Meeting prep shows the cadence status of the relationship.
- When importing contacts, you can set a cadence for the newly created relationships.
Frequently asked questions
The bulk setting skipped some relationships.
You can set the cadence only on relationships you own. An admin can set it on all of them.
A colleague got in touch with the person. Does that count towards my cadence?
Yes. An action recorded on the relationship by anyone renews the cadence.
