Contact detail: outreach progress, notes, timeline
What you find in the contact detail, how to record a step, an action, a note and a follow-up, and who may close or hand over a relationship.
What it is for
The contact detail shows everything about a person and the team's work with them. It opens in a panel next to the list, so you can use the Previous in list and Next in list arrows to go through the list without closing it.
How to
- Record a step: in the Outreach progress section, click an empty phase in your row (Record today). Double-click to remove your step.
- Record another action: in the Timeline section, click Record an action, choose the Action type (for example Call or Email) and optionally add a note. For actions outside the phases you can also enter an earlier date.
- Invitation: Invite with template inserts the text of your template with the greeting, Copy and open profile copies it, opens the profile and records the Invited step. You send the invitation yourself.
- Note: Add a note with the category General, Opportunity, Personal context or Next step.
- Follow-up: in the Relationship section, Add follow-up. You can also create one in the Follow-ups section with the + button.
- Task for a colleague or yourself: in the Tasks section, the + icon (Assign task). The task will be linked to the contact.
- Contact details: the pencil Edit contact details. Each field saves itself when you leave it.
Good to know

Who may do what
| Task | Who |
|---|---|
| Step, action, note, your follow-up, contact details | every member with write access |
| Editing or deleting an action | only its author |
| Cadence, Close relationship, Hand over for processing | the relationship owner and admins |
- You can remove only your own step and only from this week; in a running action plan, from its start.
- Notes cannot be edited or deleted. Write a correction as a new note.
- Unfinished text of a follow-up, action, note or invitation is saved in your browser as you type and opens again when you return to the contact.
- Close relationship requires an outcome: Handed over, Stays, Deferred or No outcome. The relationship disappears from the active ones; the history stays.
- The Do not contact label on a channel warns that the person does not want to be contacted.
Private contact
Only you can see a contact with the Private label. It has no Team message section, its company is only text, it offers no team labels, handover or merging, and you can create a task about it only for yourself. The menu next to the name contains Delete private contact. See Private contacts.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not record a step?
You have read-only access, or nobody has an open relationship with the person. The app then shows the message: You cannot record steps here right now.
How do I change the owner of a contact?
The app does not offer changing the owner yet. You can entrust the work to a colleague with the Hand over for processing button. The colleague then works the contact in their action plan and the owner stays the same.
